For over 25 years the Benefice has had a small but keen choir, made up from members of the various parishes.
Currently the choir practices most Tuesday evenings at 7.45pm in Stoke Lyne.
The choir sings at the regular monthly Evensong in one of the Benefice churches (see the 'services' page).
The choir also sings at the Benefice service which takes place whenever the is a fifth Sunday in the month, and at occasional special services (for example; Harvests, Commemoration of the Departed, Good friday etc.)

Recently the choir has been delighted that a few people have joined, or will join in on occasion when they can (the choir realises that people have heavy family and work commitments and cannot always attend choir regularly).

Anyone interersted? Do contact us. We work informally. A sense of fun and enthusiasm, is more important than musical knowledge, ability to read music etc.
for more information, ring Penny on 277310, or Becky (Benefice administrator during office hours, 9.00am to 1.00pm Tuesday, Thursday, friday).

Pic a flic

Once a month on a Wednesday morning, 11am – 2 pm at the Finmere Rectory.
A group meet at the Rectory to watch a film and over the months we have watched all sorts.
Sometimes it something that is good for us, makes us think, or gives us an insight into the lives of people who are different from us. Sometimes it is an old favourite. And sometimes it is just silly or funny and makes us laugh!
After the film, we share a light lunch, talk about the film and catch up on news.
We make a donation of £3.00 to cover costs.
All are welcome! We do our best to cater for various dietary needs, and we will try and sort out a lift for you if you need it to get there.

Home Study Group

From time to time, usually around Lent and/or Advent, there is a small group of people who meet once a week for about four weeks to read and discuss together. Most recently we have been using ‘Inspired to Follow’ a course prepared by St Martin in the Fields, London. This course uses paintings from the National Gallery, of religious subjects, to enable discussion. It has proved to be a stimulating way to get people talking – and there was no need to know anything about painting! Another set of meetings (but not necessarily following this course) will take place later in 2020, and will be publicised in the Benefice Notice Sheets and in the Shelswell News.

Meetings usually start at 8.00pm and last about an hour. Anyone can join and will be most welcome.
