Lighthouse Shelswell

Due to COVID 19 we will be postponing the launch of Lighthouse Shelswell to July 2021 – but we hope that if things settle and restrictions are lifted, that we may have some kind of Shelswell Activity Day/ Community celebration later this summer.

Come and be part of the best part of the summer holidays!

About Lighthouse
Lighthouse is a non-residential week long holiday club for children run by Christians from local churches working together, bringing churches and communities together around children.
We welcome children of school age from 4 to 11 (Reception to Year 6).
Lighthouse is staffed and run entirely by volunteers.
We are passionate about seeing children from all walks of life and abilities encountering God in a fun-filled week with teaching, sport, craft, performing arts and music.
Many people describe Lighthouse as 'the best week of the summer holidays'

Lighthouse Shelswell
This year, we are starting LIGHTHOUSE here in Shelswell.
Monday 27th July to Friday 31st July, 10 am to 3.30 pm at Finmere School. Open to all children aged 4 to 11.
Registration for children opens on 1st May, but save the date now!
The Lighthouse format is simple and fun. At the start and finish of each day we gather everyone together for worship, teaching, drama, competitions, etc. For the rest of the day children have a programme of games, performing arts and craft, plus two age group Discovery sessions to explore the day's theme.
Running Lighthouse costs about £50 a child. We make no charge for children attending Lighthouse, but we do rely on donations from parents / guardians, local churches, and other generous benefactors. Details of how to donate can be found at

Call for helpers!
We will also be needing lots of people to make sure the children have an incredible time. There are lots of different things you could help with, whether looking after a small group of children as a Lighthouse Keeper, or helping with craft or drama or sport, or playing in our band or helping with all the techie stuff. We need teenagers too to help out as Lamplighters – and in the evening they get to enjoy their own programme of events just for them!
Whatever role you think you can help with, or even if you are not sure, whether you can help for just one day or whether you can be there all week, we need you to go online to register!

On the Lighthouser website, click on ‘Find My Lighthouse’ in the top righthand corner to find ‘Lighthouse Shelswell’ and a description of the roles.
Click on ‘Get involved’ along the top to volunteer.
